1. Who we are
Lotus (“Lotus,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides a mobile companion app that helps partners be more attentive across the menstrual cycle. One partner (the “Owner”) sets up cycle information; the other partner (the “Companion”) receives a quiet daily briefing derived from it. This policy applies to our iOS app and this website.
If you have questions about this policy or your data, contact us at hello@lotus.gr8apps.eu.
2. Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account using Sign in with Apple, Google, or email, we receive an identifier and, depending on the method, your email address. If you use Sign in with Apple’s private relay, we receive only a relay email address.
Profile information
During setup you may provide your first name, a nickname for each partner, and an optional profile photo. Photos are stored in a private bucket, are visible only to the two paired partners, and are served via short-lived signed links.
Cycle and health information (Owner only)
This is the most sensitive information in the app, and only the Owner provides it. It may include:
- Typical cycle length and typical period length;
- The start and end dates of recent periods;
- Menstrual and cycle data read from Apple Health, if you choose to connect it.
Date ideas and proposals
If you use the date-planning features, we store the date ideas you save or create and the proposals you send to your partner, including any note and time you attach.
Pairing information
To connect the two partners, we generate a private invite link and QR code. We store the association between the paired accounts so the Companion can receive briefings.
Subscription information
Purchases are processed by the Apple App Store. We do not receive or store your full payment card details. We receive confirmation of your subscription status (for example, active, trial, or expired) so we can unlock features.
Device and usage information
We collect limited technical data such as device type, operating-system version, app version, crash logs, and aggregate usage events. We use PostHog, a product-analytics service, to record how the app and website are used — for example which screens are viewed and which buttons are tapped. Analytics events never include your cycle or health details. This helps us keep the app stable and improve it.
Notifications
If you enable them, we send a daily morning check-in (for example, around 7:30 AM) and occasional pairing updates, such as when your partner proposes a date. To deliver these we store your device’s push token and your notification preferences.
3. How we use your information
- To provide the core service — turning cycle information into plain-language phase summaries, daily briefings, and suggestions;
- To create and maintain your account and the pairing between partners;
- To send the notifications you have enabled;
- To manage subscriptions, trials, and access to paid features;
- To diagnose problems, maintain security, and improve the app;
- To respond to your support requests.
4. Apple Health and sensitive health data
If you choose to connect Apple Health, we request read access only to the cycle-related categories needed to estimate phases. We never write to your Apple Health record. Data obtained through Apple Health is used solely to provide the features you asked for and is handled in line with Apple’s HealthKit requirements. We do not use Apple Health data for advertising, and we do not sell it. You can revoke this access at any time in the iOS Settings > Health menu.
5. What your partner can and cannot see
This is central to how Lotus works. The Companion never sees the Owner’s raw data — no exact dates, no Apple Health records, no numeric cycle details. The Companion sees only derived information: the current phase, a plain-language summary of what to expect, general read-outs (such as energy or social battery), and one suggestion for the day — plus anything you deliberately share, such as a profile photo or a date proposal. The Owner can pause sharing, edit their information, or unlink the Companion at any time.
6. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these limited cases:
- With your paired partner, limited to the derived information described in Section 5;
- Service providers who host our infrastructure, deliver notifications, or provide crash and analytics tooling (such as PostHog for product analytics), under contracts that require them to protect your data and use it only for our instructed purposes;
- Apple, for authentication and subscription processing;
- Legal and safety reasons, where required by law or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the service;
- Business transfers, if Lotus is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
7. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal and health information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain limited records to meet legal, accounting, or security obligations.
8. Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls, and other safeguards designed to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and to limit who can access it.
9. Your rights and choices
- Access, correct, or update your information from within the app;
- Pause sharing, edit your cycle details, or unlink your partner at any time;
- Revoke Apple Health access in iOS Settings;
- Turn notifications off in the app or in iOS Settings;
- Delete your account, which removes your associated data as described in Section 7;
- Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, port, restrict, or object to processing, or to withdraw consent. To exercise these, contact hello@lotus.gr8apps.eu.
10. Children’s privacy
Lotus is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. International transfers
We may process and store information in countries other than where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
